States Of Clay
ABOUT STATES OF CLAY
I am interested in the physicality and reality of land and the evidence of time and age in the layers of earth, in contrast with contemporary human relationships with land through usage, manipulation, ownership and division.By pouring specifically colored casting slip onto paper, I created thin crusts of clay attached to the paper. These prints were hung while leather hard, allowing the clay layers to evaporate, shrink and crumble off the paper to the floor. The layers naturally exposed the ones below to reveal human marks hidden beneath the crust.
